The Debt Management Office on Monday embarked on inspection of some projects financed by Commercial Loans between 2015 and 2016 by the State Government for residents of the State.
The inspection, according to the Permanent Secretary, Debt Management Office, Mr. Olujimi Ige was meant to ascertain the status of the identified projects in line with the statutory requirements.
The Permanent Secretary who said that the inspection of all ongoing and completed projects in the State are part of the functions of the Agency, explained that the the assessment of the projects would avail the Office with needed information about projects status for onward communication to other relevant Federal Government bodies like the Securities and Exchange Commission, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Federal Debt Management Office, among others.
He assured Lagosians that the present administration in the State under Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu will ensure that funds received through Bonds as well as other sources are not just judiciously expended, but would be used for projects that will significantly impact the lives of Lagosian.
He stated that the inspection and assessment tour of projects across the State will be sustained and also extended to projects like roads, schools, construction of water infrastructure amongst others.
The monitoring team comprise of Engineers, architects and some key professionals directly involved in the execution of the State Government projects.
The inspection team went to Agege, Ikorodu, Somolu, Yaba, Badagry, Epe, Lekki to inspect Projects which includes, block of Classrooms, school fences, toilets, hostels, housing schemes, roads as well as waterworks.
